Introduction                                                                                       Links     Utah Jazz is a professional basketball team formed in 1974 and based in Salt Lake City , Utah . They are among the seven teams which play in the Midwest Division of the Western Conference of the National Basketball Association. The Utah Jazz were originally based in New Orleans , Louisiana and were known as New Orleans Jazz from1974-79. Delta Center is the home arena of the club and the team players wear jerseys of colors purple, white, and yellow. Utah Jazz's mascot has the word "JAZZ" put on top over a mountain inside a gold ring with the word " UTAH " printed on it. The Jazz team started playing in 1974 led by Pete Maravich. But the team did not enjoy success in the beginning and after playing four seasons moved to Salt Lake City , Utah in 1979.The Jazz Utah was one of the dominating team during the 1980s and 1990s. They ended the 1996-97 with a win-loss record of 64-18, the best in the Western Conference, and reached the NBA Finals for the first time.
